What is Botox? 

Botox is a safe natural purified protein used to treat the reduction and appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, whilst still preserving facial expression.  

It’s one of the most popular aesthetic treatments worldwide and is used by millions of men 18+.  

Effects develop gradually over two weeks and last for three to six months. 

Where can I have Botox? 

Forehead, glabella, crow’s feet, bunny lines (nose), above the lip to smooth out wrinkles. 

Masseter muscle (above the lower jaw line) to ease tension in the jaw muscle, helps with teeth grinding; slims a wider face. 

Benefit:  

Creates a smoother fresher youthful appearance by smoothing lines and wrinkles and lifting sagging skin above the eyelids. It can slim a wider face if the masseter muscle (jaw muscle) area is treated.

NB: Men….you need a larger amount of anti-wrinkle product which is why the cost is a little higher than for women.

How you prepare 

Before your appointment day please let your Bareface Aesthetics practitioner know if you've had any type of Botox injection within the past three months.  

Also tell your Bareface Aesthetics practitioner if you take muscle relaxants, sleeping aids or allergy medications.  

If you take blood thinners, you may need to stop taking them several days before your injection to reduce your risk of bleeding or bruising but you must speak to your own GP to make sure it is safe for you to do so prior to any Botox treatment.   

Before the procedure 

Although most of our clients don't feel any discomfort during this procedure, you may still wish to have your skin numbed beforehand. We will be very happy to do this for you. Your Bareface Aesthetics practitioner will apply a topical anaesthetic cream before treatment begins.  

(Please let your practitioner know if you have an allergy to bee or wasp stings) 

During the procedure 

We only use the finest gauge needles to inject into your skin or muscles. You probably won’t feel any discomfort during the treatment. The number of injections needed depends on a number of factors, including the extent of the area being treated and depth of wrinkles.  

Treatment only takes 15 minutes and there is no downtime. 

After the procedure 

Do not rub or massage the treated areas for 24 hours. This may help prevent the toxin from spreading. You can return to your normal activities right after the procedure, but we do ask you not to lay down for at least 3 hours afterwards. Your Bareface Aesthetics practitioner will inform you of any other requirements prior to treatment. 

Results 

Botox injections usually begin working one to three days after treatment. You should start to notice a smoother and more youthful appearance of your skin around those areas treated over the next two weeks. The effect may last three or four months or even longer. To maintain your new fresher look, you'll need regular follow-up treatments every three to four months or so.
